I gave up trying to understand myself and people close to me (especially women) a long time ago. Instead, I've made a career out of trying to understand and relate to complete strangers. It's called branding and market research and it's a lot easier. While I have played a major role in many successful brand and product launches, I couldn't convince my mother to buy my senior year high school picture. I really do know "what women want," except for Diane, Lisa and Lora (my wife and two daughters). I guess objectivity makes a big difference.
