For those of you who haven’t noticed the number of cars around you dwindling, please take note. Cleveland was recently given an honorable mention in Bicycling magazine’s Top 50 Bike-Friendly Cities. Cited for its beautiful web of Metro Park trails surrounding the city’s eastern, southern and western perimeters and its initiatives to bring more bike-friendly facilities like The Bike Rack to the Greater Cleveland area.
Per Fresh Water Cleveland: “The 2010 American Community Survey shows that .8 percent of Clevelanders now use a bicycle as their primary mode of transportation to work — a figure well above the national average of .53 percent.”
One lone biking enthusiast here at Melamed Riley has successfully spread the biking germ among his colleagues. Essentially, we have a biking epidemic in the office. Roughly 20% of our team rides consistently — if not to and from the workplace, simply by participating in company outings to local races and fundraisers.
So if you’re riding to work like the hundreds of other Clevelanders this summer, we’ll see you out there!
